Luke Evans doesn't ping for me in the roles I've seen him in

Agree on Raymond Burr. I was genuinely surprised when I found out he was gay.

Cary Grant. No, really, I can understand why some people still don't believe he was gay.

Luke MacFarlane most of the time.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | November 20, 2020 5:58 PM |
If you pay attention, you can see Raymond Burr occasionally lose his self-control and queen out for a few seconds on Perry Mason.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | November 20, 2020 6:00 PM |
Jodie Foster.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | November 20, 2020 6:06 PM |

Actually, I can barely say that Tommy Cruise pings on screen.

Have we confirmed he is gay?

J.E. Freeman, who played the vicious thug in Miller’s Crossing. The character is written to be gay, but Freeman himself didn’t ping, for me at least.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | November 21, 2020 6:21 AM |
Ben Aldridge from Fleabag doesn’t ping at all on screen. But when he isn’t acting, boy do the handbags 👜 fly out.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | November 21, 2020 6:26 AM |
Jodie Foster pings--not to me, R12. Isn't the thread about "Actors who are/were gay but don't ping for you onscreen"?
So mind your own business, si vous plait.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | November 21, 2020 6:47 AM |
Speaking of Fleabag, Andrew Scott doesn't really ping for me, either
by Anonymous | reply 25 | November 21, 2020 5:54 PM |
R20 The original one - Jack Larson.

Pedro Pascal

R11 Jodie is a Bull dyke, I can’t see her in a relationship with a man at all.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | November 22, 2020 12:00 AM |
Great, but I disagree. I think she is sexy with men in The Inside Man. My opinion.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | November 22, 2020 12:03 AM |
Jesse Martin is NOT gay. I've worked with him a couple of times and know him pretty well.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | November 22, 2020 12:08 AM |
I think Russell Tovey plays straight men brilliantly.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | November 22, 2020 12:09 AM |
Pedro Pascal is a badass on The Mandalorian, but then, that's also not really him in the costume most of the time.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | November 22, 2020 12:16 AM |
R33, He’s much better on Narcos and Game Of Thrones.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | November 22, 2020 12:24 AM |
R31, if that's true then I guess he's the opposite of this thread - a guy who's straight but comes across as gayish on the screen
by Anonymous | reply 35 | November 22, 2020 5:26 AM |
Off topic but, are Pedro Pascal and Edgar Ramirez a couple?
by Anonymous | reply 36 | November 22, 2020 1:21 PM |
Clifton Davis
John Amos
Paul Winfield
by Anonymous | reply 37 | November 22, 2020 1:26 PM |
Clooney doesn't ping onscreen but does in interviews. He reminds me of Raymond Burr in many ways and is even starting to look like him.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | November 22, 2020 2:11 PM |
Tom Cruise | John Travolta
by Anonymous | reply 39 | November 22, 2020 2:22 PM |
Travolta does not ping.
Travolta quakes.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | November 22, 2020 2:28 PM |
Do any DLers know Dino Fetscher? He's a young British actor, very hot, appeared in the UK series Gentleman Jack, Humans, Paranoid, The Split, Banana, Years and Years, etc., who can totally read as straight. But he's gay and very upfront about it in interviews and on Instagram. Check him out!
by Anonymous | reply 41 | November 22, 2020 3:12 PM |
Guillermo Diaz. I knew him from Weeds and would not have guessed he was gay.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | November 22, 2020 3:14 PM |
I don't think it's that Andrew Scott doesn't ping on screen ever, because he brings a gay sensibility to his roles when he wants to and he pings plenty there. I just think it's that he's a brilliant actor and can shut it on and off at will. Agree about Russell Tovey too. Both those men come from a background of homophobic religious parents who probably forced them to codeswitch 24/7 and present as butch as possible growing up or risk backlash from family and peers, so they lean into that as actors now.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | November 22, 2020 9:11 PM |
I can't believe no one's mentioned Robert Reed.
Also, Earl Holliman if anyone remembers him.
As a kid I never thought Richard Deacon seemed gay, just a big nerd.

[quote]Have we confirmed he is gay?
We have not. He keeps a very low profile but he hasn't had a public girlfriend in several years.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | November 22, 2020 10:01 PM |
R44, agree about Earl Holloman
George Maharis didn't ping for me on the screen, either
by Anonymous | reply 46 | November 22, 2020 10:36 PM |
William Hopper, son of Hedda and remembered as Paul Drake on Perry Mason.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | November 22, 2020 11:56 PM |
George Chakiris came off as creditably straight when he wasn't kicking up his heels in West Side Story.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | November 22, 2020 11:57 PM |
George Nader. He was a popular actor in the 50s, but his career went down the tubes after Rock Hudson's agent outed him in exchange for the mainstream press to ignore Hudson's gay parties and, for the times, scandalous behavior. I never knew Nader was gay until the stories surfaced about his unspeakable treatment by the agent.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | November 23, 2020 11:25 AM |
^^ You know how you can tell he's straight? The muscles.
Also, no poodle.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | November 23, 2020 11:28 AM |
R49 *promising to ignore*

Craig Stevens of 'Peter Gunn' fame. I don't see it. But according to DL, his marriage to Alexis Smith was as lavender as a Macys perfume counter.
