ELSEWHERE ALBERT J. FALLONI, 79, of Margate, the business manager of the late heavyweight boxing champion Rocky Marciano who escaped death in the 1969 plane crash that killed Marciano because his wife insisted that he join her in Massachusetts for Labor Day weekend, died Wednesday in Columbia University Hospital in Tamarack, Fla. JAMES FOX, 59, the former New York FBI chief who finally brought mobster John Gotti to heel and headed up the World Trade Center bombing investigation, died Friday after being hospitalized May 9 with an abdominal infection. MICHAEL J. MURPHY, 83, who served as the New York City police commissioner during a tumultuous period in the 1960s punctuated by riots and bitter accusations of police brutality, died early Saturday at his home in Smithtown, N.Y.

He died of natural causes, said his daughter-in-law, Ann Fenichel. ANNA SCARPOVA YOUSKEVITCH, 85, of Manhattan, N.Y., a prominent ballet teacher and a former member of the Ballets Russes troupes of the 1930s and '40s, died of pancreatic cancer Thursday at the Broadview Health Facility in West Hartford, Conn. Samuel Baron, flutist, conductor NEW YORK TIMES New York Samuel Baron, a flutist and conductor who was a founding member of the New York Woodwind Quintet and the director of the Bach Aria Group, died Friday at Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan. He was 72. Mr.

Baron was born in Brooklyn in 1925 and began his musical studies as a violinist before switching to the flute in high school. He studied music at the Henry Street Settlement, Brooklyn College and the Juilliard School. After graduating from Gerry Holden 87, longtime insurance leader The memorial service for Gerry Rounds Holden 87, of Atlanta was today at First Presbyterian Church. Mr. Holden died of heart failure Thursday at Crawford Long Hospital.

As a senior member of PotterHolden Co. Insurance, Mr. Holden handled insurance contracts with Emory University, Emory Hospital, Piedmont Hospital a and Crawford Long Hospital. While working at Aetna in the 1940s, he handled medical malpractice contracts through the Fulton County Medical Society for all of the physicians in Atlanta, said his son-in-law, John W. Fite of Atlanta.

"He was considered the expert on professional liability insurance for physicians and hospitals," he said. Mr. Holden considered his biggest business achievement to be his help in passing a no-priorapproval law in the 1960s, said Mr. Fite. The law cut down bureaucracy in filing rate changes and helped open up insurance markets in Georgia.

A graduate of Washington and Lee University, Mr. Holden served as president of both the Atlanta and Georgia Associations of Independent Agents and as director of the National Association of Insurance Agents. He retired from Potter-Holden Co. in 1980 at age 70. "He ended up being a mentor to a lot of agents around Georgia," said his -law.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Helen Field Holden of Atlanta; two daughters, Anne H. Carson and Frances H. Fite, both of Atlanta; and five grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the charity of your choice. Brian J.

Back ALTERMAN Mrs. Chippie Alterman, of Atlanta, died May 17, 1997. Survivors are husband, Sam P. HARRIS, RICHARD M. Richard M. Harris, retired executive in the health care industry and long time Atlanta area resident, died of cancer at his home in San Diego, CA. He was 66. During the early 1960's, he was Area Manager of the Southeastern United States for V.

Mueller, Division of American Hospital Supply Corporation. He had offices in Chamblee and Miami, FL. He was 35 years in the health care industry, and for 15 years prior to retirement in 1994, was Executive Vice President and Genera! Manager of Medicon Instruments, with USA headquarters in Norcross. He moved Medicon from Chicago to Norcross in 1985. His career in the health care industry included almost 20 years with V.

Mueller in various sales and management positions throughout the country: several years with DePuy in Southern California and GENTEC Hospital Supply in San Diego, CA. His last 15 years were with Medicon as COO. Retirement in June 1994 prompted Richard, and his bride of 40 years, Theresa, to relocate back to San Diego. Richard and Theresa recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. He was a member of the BPO Elks, USA, San Diego Lodge No.

168; The American Legion, Post No. 460, San Diego; and an active member of the San Diego R.S.V.P., Retired Senior Volunteer Patrol of the City of San Diego Police Department.
